November 16, 1978 – at 23.15 commence of the physical start-up of the second Unit, November 17 – the first chain reaction, December 19 – at 23.15 reactor power ascension.
December 21 – turbine generator No.3 was put into grid, January 10, 1979 – turbine generator No.4 delivered industrial current, Power Unit No.2 was commissioned.
April 22, 1979 – Chornobyl NPP generated the first 10 billion kW·h.
May 28, 1979 – Power Unit No.2 was put into the design power 1 000 MW that was brought in 5 months.
October 5, 1979 – Chornobyl NPP First Stage consisting of two Power Units was put to nominal power 2 000 MW.
