The works on commissioning of New Ventilation Stack (NVS) and Generation II auxiliary systems are being continued at Chernobyl NPP.
During September, the Main Building and Outdoor Facilities Operation Shop implemented the first two stages, i.e. pilot operation and acceptance testing of NVS. During work performance, a continuous monitoring of volumetric air activity around Shelter Object was ensured when changing the modes of ventilation systems and shutting the Ventilation Stack 2 (VS-2) orifice, the test logs of aerodynamic characteristics and radiation parameters of NVS discharges are finalized.
On October 7, 2013, a meeting of the commission on accepting the NVS radiation monitoring system for operation following testing took place.
Currently, the deliverables are being prepared to get a separate permit from the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine for operation of NVS and auxiliary systems of SSE ChNPP Generation II, and new operation and maintenance documentation is under development as well.
For information: On August 2, 2013, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine has issued to SSE ChNPP a separate permit to perform works on commissioning of New Ventilation Stack of ChNPP Generation II. Pursuant to this permit, the NVS commissioning was carried out in accordance with “Decision on Commissioning of New Ventilation Stack of SSE ChNPP Generation II” and “Commissioning Programme for New Ventilation Stack and Auxiliary Systems of SSE ChNPP Generation II” both approved on July 4, 2013.
