On January 27, a regular session of the Slavutich Town Council was held, where deputies made elective resolution to prepare joint statement of the representatives of all factions represented in the town council regarding social and political situation in Ukraine and Slavutich. First of all, the statement was addressed to the managers of international projects being implemented currently within Chernobyl NPP site, and to ChNPP Management as well.

By this statement, the representatives of local government confirm that territorial community of Slavutich is able to control the situation and guarantees security for the international project stakeholders during their stay in the town.

A letter from Slavutich Mayor Vladimir Udovichenko, also addressed to Chernobyl NPP dated January 31, 2014, has the same context:

Dear Partners, Colleagues and Friends,

We understand your prepossession and concern regarding social and political situation developed in Ukraine recently. On the one hand, this is undoubtedly public, social and human tragedy, and on the other hand, to our opinion, it is a big problem associated with birth and formation of civil society in Ukraine and search of optimal model of relations between society and government.

The position of town authorities is reflected by corresponding decisions of the Town Council which the deputies made by open voting, almost with a single voice. We share your concern with regard to keeping legal order and peace in Slavutich town. The town territorial community repeatedly proved its ability to overcome complicated and very complicated problems.

Sharing your concern, the town authorities of Slavutich headed by Mayor would like to assure you that they control the situation in the town and, on behalf of the Slavutich Territorial Community, guarantee secure stay in the town for all international project stakeholders implementing international technical assistance within Chernobyl NPP area.
