There were organized 10 scientific visits of Chornobyl NPP specialists to the NPP site facilities of Germany, Great Britain, Lithuania and other countries in the frameworks of IAEA technical cooperation projects. This is an important and necessary part of cooperation, which allow learn the obtained already experience and then apply it at the site. It is a pleasure to mark that to obtain an experience anybody comes to Chornobyl NPP now. This is a major achievement in the international cooperation and high job rating of ChNPP specialists.
Since October 11 up to 15 on the request of Lithuania Government, IAEA organized the scientific visit to ChNPP site the delegation of Lithuania. The purpose of it was the familiarization with ChNPP experience in the field of technologies and creation of infrastructure for radioactive waste management, learning of Ukrainian normative and regulatory requirements in the field of RAW management. The delegation consists of Agency Director on Radioactive Waste Management (RATA) Mr. Dainius Yanenas, Head of Division on Radioactive Waste Management of Lithuanian State Inspectorate on Nuclear Safety (VATESI) Mr. Darius Lukauskas, Head of Decommissioning Department of Ignalina NPP Mr. Antanas Budraitis, Head of Project Management Unit of Ignalina NPP Mr. Dmitriy Pokidyshev.
The key part of Lithuanian delegation visit was devoted to visiting facilities on radioactive waste management at ChNPP. The Lithuanian specialists discussed with NPP managers some substantial problems concerned with RAW management at decommissioning. In particular, the problems of waste characterization, technologies of waste conditioning, approaches to waste storage, criteria of waste acceptance were of great interest.
These problems were discussed as during at specially organized meetings, so during visiting facilities. On October 11 the Lithuanian delegation visited Liquid Radioactive Waste Treatment Plant, hold meetings with Chemical Shop specialists and on October 12 together with specialists of Solid RAW Treatment Shop got to know with Industrial Complex for Solid RAW Management.
The Lithuanian specialists marked that their visit to ChNPP completely justified their expectations: “We like looked to our future”.
On October 13 the delegation visited RWDF “Buryakovka” and “Vector” where the meetings with specialists of SSE “Technocentre” and “Complex” were organized and on October 14, 15 continued their work at SNRCU and MES.
