26 April 2023 – on the day of the 37th anniversary of the Chornobyl Disaster, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Mr Ruslan Strilets visited the Chornobyl NPP industrial site.
As a tribute to fallen liquidators, Mr Strilets and members of his delegation joined the plant’s staff during the traditional ceremony of laying flowers at the Memorial to victims of the disaster. In his address, the Minister called to remember the tragedy of 1986 and make the right conclusions out of it.
“2022 divided the world into two: one has been struck with fear of the possible consequences of nuclear terror in Ukraine, and the other has been unfortunately financing it. I would like to thank all those who stayed on their workplaces and continued doing their job. As it is very important today during the full scale invasion and the fight against ruscism that everyone was in their place, did their job and fought their battle for the sake of a strong and independent Ukraine”, — said the Minister.
Following the ceremony, personnel of the plant received honorary awards from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
“This day, the anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster is undoubtedly a memorable date for ChNPP staff. We continue the work of those men and women who had sacrificed their lives and health during elimination of the accident. We continue our efforts on making the ChNPP site a safer place day after day”, — concluded ChNPP Acting Director General Mr Valeriy Seyda.
