The aggressor continues its energy terrorism against Ukraine. In particular, on the night of 20 January 2026, during a massive missile and drone attack, energy infrastructure components that provide power to Chornobyl NPP facilities were attacked.
We emphasize once again that such actions are absolutely unacceptable and grossly violate fundamental principles of nuclear and radiation safety. The potential threat from such attacks extends beyond Ukraine to the entire European continent.
As of 16:00 on 20 January 2026, all Chornobyl NPP facilities (including the New Safe Confinement, the Shelter Object, and the spent nuclear fuel storage facilities ISF-1 and ISF-2) are supplied from the United Energy System of Ukraine.
The current radiation situation does not exceed safety limits. The site has sufficient backup power sources. There is currently no threat to the environment or public.
