The International Forum “The Chernobyl Lessons for the World’s Nuclear Safety” is scheduled for 21-22 April 2016, ahead of the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe. This Forum will be held in Kyiv, at the National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI”. It will consist of four plenary sessions. The participants are planned to visit the Chernobyl NPP, where will be familiarized with state of activities at the site and progress of works on elimination of the accident consequences and the Shelter transformation into an environmentally safe system. A meeting of the Program Committee will be conducted in the nearest time to discuss subjects and content of speakers’ presentations.

In 2017, when the Arch takes its design position over the Shelter Object, a tremendous step will be done towards the victory over the happened nuclear catastrophe. Ukraine has travelled this 30-year way together with the whole world community with its assistance and support. However, one should remember that following this step, many others no less important and challenging are still lying ahead: to dismantle unstable structures of the Sarcophagus, remove and dispose FCM being inside, and many other tasks. These steps also should be accomplished with the support of the whole world. One of the objectives of the forthcoming Forum is to recall that a lot of unbelievable things have been done, but the way still has not been travelled to the end.
