On 28th January the Chernobyl NPP was officially visited by representatives of Skoda JS a.s. (the Czech Republic) which is the Contractor under a Contract “Production, Certification and Delivery of a Cask-Wagon for Transportation of Spent Nuclear Fuel”, and by the Ukrainian subcontractors of Skoda JS a.s. - SS SSTC NRS and LLC MontazhEnergoStroy.
The participants visited the ChNPP warehousing area, where they inspected the transport vehicle that was delivered previously by Skoda JS a.s., after which took part in a meeting. Issues of preparation of the transport vehicle for installation of a packaging set onto it, preparation of the site at which the cask-wagon will be assembled and acceptance testing were addressed during the meeting.
The production of such cask-wagon is of great importance for the Chernobyl NPP site. This transport vehicle will meet all up-to-date technical requirements and will be used during nuclear fuel transportation in the course of forthcoming hot tests instead of the former wagon which is technically and morally obsolete.
