During April 25-27, Slavutych hosted the ІІ International Conference INUDECO. The subject matter of this year conference was “Problems of Nuclear Energy Facilities Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation”.
Actually, the outstanding scientific event got together about 180 participants from Belarus, Germany, Poland, Russian Federation, USA, Ukraine, France, Switzerland and Japan from about 50 institutions. Most of them are practical scientists working in nuclear energy and physics; they research safety, IT, environmental protection and social problems on post-accident territories.
Mr. Sergey Kondratenko, Deputy Technical Director of SSE ChNPP, welcomed the participants of the international scientific forum and emphasized the importance of the proposed topics not only for Slavutych and Chernobyl NPP, but also for world community:
“We have a unique experience in remediating the consequences of severe accident at nuclear facility, we have practice in decommissioning and we are ready to share the experience obtained”, he pointed out.
During opening of the conference, among its organizers, the invited scientists gave the speech, i.e. representatives of the Institute of Environmental Radioactivity of Fukushima University (Japan) – Mr. Uchimupa Hitoshi, Deputy Director, and Mr. Mark Zhelezniak, professor, as well as Mr. Kai Vetter, professor of Berkeley University (USA).
Following opening session and during next day, April 27, the participants worked in 5 topical vectors:

Under the conference, two more events having been held simultaneously – Local Hackathon among IT-specialists and 12th Slavutych Ecoforum.
Hackathon is a competition of 10 teams of young IT-specialists in the format of 24-hour marathon to develop a product or a prototype, new ideas the town needs and the youngest town of Ukraine – Slavutych... Summing-up of hackathon and awarding of the best is to be performed during conference closing.
Participants of the section “Ecological problems of constant development and preservation of the environment” had the trip to the State Scientific-Research Institution “Chernobyl Center for Radioactive Safety, Radioactive Waste and Radioecology”.
During last day of the conference, the visit to the industrial site of Chernobyl NPP was arranged. The participants visited the Observation Pavilion of New Safe Confinement and Prypiat town. A separate team of technical experts-participants of the conference visited Unit 2 Control Room, Central Control Room No.1, premise of the integrated automated control system of Shelter Object and radiation safety control room.
