Visit of TEPCO management — Fukushima NPP operator

November 1-st two-day visit of TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Incorporated) representatives delegation was held at ChNPP.

The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with Chernobyl NPP’s experience in the accident consequences overcoming.

"Our accident [at Fukushima NPP — Ed.] occurred six and a half years ago, and Chornobyl NPP has already thirty years of experience. One of the impressions is that decontamination measures were very successful at your site, as many workers present at the site haven’t special protection. And you have significantly improved working conditions around Unit 4 and New Safe Confinement" — said Takafumi Anegawa, one of the delegates, TEPCO Senior Nuclear Adviser.

"After the accident our company received many recommendations from different foreign specialists, including specialists from Chornobyl NPP. For example, advices on dose rate reducing or distribution of radiation" — continued the Adviser.

"During this visit many of your experts recommended very simple measures implemented at ChNPP, and these measures give results. Your thirty years of experience shows the results obtained through the simple, but purposeful actions. We want to apply your recommendations during the accident consequences elimination in Japan".

Mr Takafumi pointed out that Fukushima NPP and Chornobyl NPP have joint challenges, so cooperation and mutual assistance between the plants should continue. "We receive considerable support and assistance from your plant. I think we should continue to strengthen our international cooperation" — he concluded.

During the visit TEPCO delegation visited Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility No. 2 and Liquid and Solid Radioactive Waste Management plants.
