A final day of the Member Support Mission (MSM) of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) was held on July 16 at the ChNPP Training Center.
During five days the representatives of three Regional Centres – Atlanta, Tokyo and moscow – as well as experts and scientists of the relevant organizations of Ukraine took part in consultations and discussions regarding providing the individual dosimetry monitoring of the personnel internal radiation exposure.
The WANO MSM Coordinator Ivan Goncharov summarized the outcomes: “The issue of internal exposure is a very specific subject. Usually all NPPs aim efforts at the monitoring of external exposure, while the interest of ChNPP in the issue of internal exposure speaks for the high standards that this enterprise continues to follow.
Of course, there is always a room for improvement. Hope that our recommendations and suggestions will help you in this matter. Still, let me emphasize again, and the WANO experts agree with me, that you have achieved a really great success, and your presentations prove this! Our experts have also received experience and lessons that they could take with them and show in their Centres and NPPs.”
In the course of the Mission, in addition to the consultations, the participants visited the New Safe Confinement (NSC), where they were familiarized with the detailed program of the Shelter transformation into an environmentally safe system, history of the NSC construction and peculiarities of radiation monitoring during the work performance.
