On February 6, Mr. Etienne De Poncins, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Ukraine, made an official visit to Chornobyl NPP.
The delegation included Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Oleksandr Krasnolutskiy and senior management of the State Agency of Ukraine for Exclusion Zone Management.
Accompanied by Valeriy Seyda, Acting Director General of Chornobyl NPP, Mr. De Poncins visited the New Safe Confinement. This structure was designed and constructed by NOVARKA consortium, which consisted of two French giants in engineering — Vinci Construction Grand Projects and Bouygues Travaux Publics.
Also during the visit, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador visited the new Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility at Chornobyl NPP and the protective structure under the Administrative Building of the plant — the place where the captured National Guardsmen were kept during the occupation of Chornobyl NPP by russian troops.
Valeriy Seyda thanked the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France for his longstanding support of Ukraine in overcoming the consequences of Chornobyl accident and Shelter object transformation into an environmentally safe system, and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
