Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant is becoming an official training and practical base for the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" named after Igor Sikorsky.

The corresponding agreement on dual education between ChNPP, KPI and Slavutych town was signed on 20 September 2023. From now on, students of one of the most prestigious technical universities in Ukraine will be able to get internships at ChNPP, and the necessary specialists will be trained in ChNPP satellite town of Slavutych.

"Chornobyl NPP has accumulated vast experience, including absolutely unique experience, in overcoming the man-made accidents consequences and nuclear facilities decommissioning. We are ready to share this experience with gifted Ukrainian youth", said Serhiy Martynov, ChNPP Acting General Director.

According to Oleksiy Zhuchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, cooperation with the Chornobyl NPP, which has been going on for many years, has every opportunity to deepen, as the Exclusion zone needs specialists, and university students will gain vast practical experience.

From the point of view of Slavutych, the mayor of Slavutych, Yuriy Fomichev, commented on the signing of the agreement: "We have an agreement on cooperation between the town and the university in the personnel training for the processes, taking place both at the Chornobyl NPP and in the Exclusion zone. Slavutych's participation in the training of highly qualified specialists means human resources for relocated enterprises, new projects, experience, and scientific status.
