On 24 September 2024, a technical visit to the Chornobyl NPP was conducted by representatives of the volunteer organization “Climate Friends for Nuclear Energy”. This group, together with the Norwegian organization “Ukrainian Freedom Convoy” and other civil society groups in Norway, has been actively involved for some time in raising funds to provide essential equipment and resources for the Ukrainian military.
The purpose of the visit was to share Ukraine’s valuable experience and knowledge with other countries that view nuclear energy as a vital source of power and a key component of their energy strategy. In Europe, Climate Friends for Nuclear Energy promotes public perception of nuclear energy and raises awareness of its positive environmental and climate impact compared to other energy industries.
During the visit, the guests toured the dry storage facility for spent nuclear fuel (ISF-2) and the space under the New Safe Confinement (NSC) arch, while also engaging in discussions with the technical managers of the Chornobyl NPP.
