In total, it consists of 2244 monocrystalline solar modules on an area of 13 thousand square meters. The plant's capacity is 762 kWh of clean energy, which will be used to meet partially needs of Chornobyl town, the facilities of the SSE CSE.
The construction was funded by the Government of Spain for greenhouse gas emission quotas under the Kyoto Protocol. Therefore, in addition to Minister of the Ministry of Environment Protection Svitlana Hrynchuk, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Lytvynenko and Head of SAUEZM Hryhorii Ishchenko, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine Ricardo Lopez-Aranda Jagu took part in the opening ceremony.
According to Svitlana Hrynchuk, the plant is a success that continues the ambitious plan to develop renewable energy in the Exclusion zone. And most importantly, “green” generation in Chornobyl is an opportunity to transform the territory of the past tragedy into a center of clean energy generation and sustainable development.
During the visit at the Chornobyl NPP, the high-ranking officials also visited the first 1 MW solar power plant, “Solar Chornobyl”, located at the Chornobyl NPP industrial site and commissioned in 2018.
In addition, government officials inspected the place where a russian UAV hit the NSC Arch, familiarized with the work progress on elimination of the enemy attack consequences, inspected other plant’s facilities and held a working meeting.
