The meeting of the Information Exchange Groups on Technical Assistance to Ukraine in the Field of Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security was held in Krakow (Poland) and was a continuation of the dialogue in the format of Ukraine - the participating states of the G7 Group Initiative “Global Partnership against the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Related Materials”.

The Chornobyl NPP was represented by Director of Operations Serhii Kalashnik and Deputy Head of the International Cooperation and Information Department Valentyna Odynytsia.

The aim of the Chornobyl NPP representatives was to present as broadly as possible the results of the current projects implementation, in particular, implementation of urgent emergency work to minimise the consequences of the russian armed drone hitting the NSC Arch, as well as to present the practical results of the international projects implementation and propose new project proposals for further cooperation with G7 partner countries.

In general, the Ukrainian side's participation was aimed at coordination of international technical assistance, discussion of current needs in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, and search of additional resources and donors for the new projects implementation.

During the sectional meetings, participants presented projects aimed at improving the security and safety of critical infrastructure facilities and improving the radioactive waste management system.  Special attention was paid to the issues of strengthening the technical capabilities of the Exclusion zone enterprises and discussing Ukraine's needs for international technical assistance to ensure the stable operation of radioactive waste storage facilities and the safe functioning of the Chornobyl NPP.
