Another round of the Information Sharing Initiative (ISI) Group meeting under the G7 Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction has concluded in the capital of the Republic of Moldova.
The meeting, organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine jointly with the Swedish and British sides, was held in person on 18–21 May 2026. The event aimed to present Ukraine’s current needs in the areas of nuclear, radiation, chemical, biological, and physical security, discuss the results of ongoing projects, and identify priorities for further international support.
The Ukrainian delegation included representatives of the State Exclusion Zone Management Agency, SSE “Radon Association”, SSE “Chornobyl NPP”, SSE “Central Enterprise for Radioactive Waste Management”, SSE “Ecocentre”, and other specialized institutions.
During the thematic session on nuclear and radiological safety, the Ukrainian side presented partners with the current needs of Ukrainian enterprises in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, as well as the physical protection of nuclear facilities under the conditions of the Russian Federation’s ongoing full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine.
The Chornobyl NPP informed donors about the current situation at the enterprise, the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure facilities, and the resulting damage and destruction. Particular attention was paid to the restoration and strengthening of the security of Chornobyl NPP facilities, as well as to priority areas requiring additional international technical and financial assistance.
“We are grateful to our international partners for the support already provided. Thanks to this assistance, the Chornobyl NPP continues fulfilling its key tasks in ensuring nuclear and radiation safety. At the same time, under wartime conditions, the enterprise’s needs have significantly increased. We count on continued solidarity and practical support for the implementation of priority projects,” emphasized the Chornobyl NPP representative.
The Ukrainian delegation also presented the results of ongoing international technical assistance projects, shared its experience of cooperation with donor countries, and outlined new initiatives. The event also included bilateral meetings with representatives of donor states and international organizations to coordinate further cooperation.
