On July 7, a plantwide emergency response training took place at Chernobyl NPP. Its objective was to train practical skills of Chernobyl NPP and contracting organizations’ personnel if radiation accident occurs, and also to check the SSE ChNPP systems of emergency preparedness and response.
In accordance with the conditions of the training, the personnel trained skills in the event of emergency which requires to evacuate immediately from conditionally affected area those people who work within the local zone of Shelter Object, at Unit 3, and also to evacuate Novarka’s personnel from the Arch assembly area.
The emergency groups got together, radiation detection was conducted, and ChNPP personnel were evacuated within the shortest possible time and in compliance with radiation safety requirements. As it is noted by Emergency Preparedness and Response Department, the objectives and tasks specified for this training have been achieved.
