On February 18, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Roman Abramovskyi officially visited Chornobyl NPP and introduced the Acting Chairman of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management Kateryna Pavlova.
Introducing new Chairman, Roman Abramovskyi held a meeting with managers of the enterprises belonging to the management field of the Agency, emphasized tasks and strategic areas of activity.
Moreover, during visiting the industrial site of Chornobyl NPP, the Deputy Minister inspected a new container wagon Skoda to be used for transferring spent nuclear fuel from old wet-type storage facility (ISF-1) to new dry-type interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel (ISF-2).
ChNPP plans to initiate this process in March this year during “hot testing” of ISF-2. The “hot testing” envisages the transfer of 186 spent fuel assemblies to new storage facility which after processing will be disposed into concrete storage modules.


The objective of the open international contest for the best creative idea/image-building project is to cultivate a positive image and to enhance the public image perfection of the State Specialized Enterprise Chornobyl NPP at the national and international levels; to involve the public and public organizations in resolving the issues associated with public image perfection of ChNPP as a key enterprise of Exclusion Zone; to support non-governmental initiatives intended for enhancement of ChNPP public image.
On January 28, 2020, Chornobyl NPP obtained the certificate from the State Architectural and Construction Inspectorate (hereinafter: SACI) on dry type Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility (hereinafter: ISF-2) construction completion.
The exercises were held to meet “Requirements for Facility Interaction Plan in Case of Sabotage” approved by Order of the State Nuclear Regulatory Committee of Ukraine dated 22 November 2010.
The Interim Spent Nuclear Fuel Dry Storage Facility (ISF-2) was handed-over from the Contractor (Holtec International) to the Employer (SSE ChNPP).
