On September 21-22, Chornobyl NPP joined the organizing and participating in the international workshop "Spent Nuclear Fuel Management".
The event objective is professional discussion of spent nuclear fuel management and spent nuclear fuel aging management.
Spent nuclear fuel (hereinafter referred to as SNF) is fuel elements or their groups retrieved from nuclear reactors of nuclear power plants and other facilities. The fuel is classified as spent if it is not able any longer to support the chain reaction efficiently.
From 1977 till 2000 — when the power units generated electricity — Chornobyl NPP built up more than 21,000 fuel assemblies.


From 21 till 24 August, 2023, online sessions of Technical Meeting on the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Inventory Tool were held. The event was organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (hereinafter referred to as IAEA).
On 17 August, Mrs Rumina Velshi, President of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, visited ChNPP industrial site. The visit was accompanied by representatives of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.
On 7-11 August, the Radiation Safety Lab was held in Slavutych, a satellite town of ChNPP. The event became a platform for the experience exchange between experts in the Radiation Safety field.
On July 17, at Chornobyl NPP a meeting was held with heads and members of foreign diplomatic institutions and missions accredited in Ukraine. The event was arranged to pursue the order of the President of Ukraine and was dedicated to implementation of the Peace Formula, in particular, the implementation of points related to nuclear and radiation safety.
